Conducting a variety of essential research to support our prairie and boreal conservation programs.
Jared Knockaert joined the IWWR team in 2008 as a research technician, working in the Summerberry Marsh Complex near The Pas, Man. After gaining valuable experience counting broods, live trapping and tagging muskrats and taking water samples, Jared went on to serve as a research technician at various Saskatchewan sites as part of the long-term Spatial and Temporal Variation in Nesting Success of Prairie Ducks study. He then took part in aerial waterfowl brood counts and conducted other research to evaluate the sustainability of landscape change for waterfowl in the western boreal forest. Jared is now conducting ongoing research at Delta Marsh, Man., focusing on blood plasma metabolites.
